By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in kids.

The Optimist Club of Greater Vienna, part of Optimist International, is a 100% volunteer Community Service organization. The Club conducts positive service projects in local communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth including special programs and scholarships. We also organize and run the Vienna Farmers Market, Annual Christmas Tree Fundraiser, and provide tours to our local Caboose. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best that they can be. Every year, Optimists around the world conduct 65,000 service projects and serve well over six million young people.

- Our Famous Caboose in Bike Across America

Bike Across America now has a video featuring the Washington and Old Dominion (W&OD) trail. They rank all the best paved trails in every state. Every trail gets scored in five categories: Scenery, Ride Quality, Variety, Amenities, and Memorability (spoiler, we did very well!). The rider chooses his trail stop in Vienna. At 4:50, you can see our volunteers finishing the repainting of our famous Caboose. He even stops at Caboose Tavern (one of my favorites!). It's a fantastic video highlighting a special amenity of this area (45 miles of paved bike path from Arlington to Purcellville). Please take a look below (set at the point where he goes to Vienna) and enjoy!

We have had the special treat of a string quartet playing in the early mornings of our farmers market. They played their last performance of the season as our main act on July 25th. Now they prepare for their first years in college. Thank you, Clementines! You "classed up" the market and we will miss you all!

- Congratulations, Will Odell, Winner of the CTE Scholarhip

Congratulations to Will Odell, winner of the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna's Career and Technical Education Scholarship! The scholarship, $2500, is provided for education in an accredited workforce training program or career pathway that does not lead to a bachelor's degree. Will wants to work on Mercedes Benz vehicles! Good luck, Will! For more information on this scholarship, click here!
